Legal Issues for Missouri Same-Sex Couples

I have handled a variety of legal issues for same-sex couples throughout my legal career, both before and after same sex marriage was legally recognized in Missouri. Some of these have included partition for division of real estate and personal property, contested child custody actions; second-parent adoptions, step-parent adoptions, and actions to declare parentage. I previously handled estate planning needs and prepared power of attorney documents that same-sex couples required to protect them when their marriages or unions were not legally recognized in Missouri.

Now that the right to marry and divorce (and the rights and obligations that go along with marriage and divorce) are extended to same-sex couples, I continue to advise and represent members of same-sex couples for their estate planning needs and other legal matters.
